On the 19th September 2001, the high water was predicted to reach 8.4 metres above dock sill but assisted by Northerly winds the tide reached 8.9 metres above dock sill. King's Lynn flood defences held back the tide. On the 13th February 2005 a predicted tide of 7.6 metres reached 8.95 metres assisted by gale force North westerly winds.
