Photo prior to Heacham Beach recharge. From July until November 2005, 338,480 tonnes of sea dredged material were imported to improve the "soft" defences of the coastline at Heacham and Snettisham. Over the spring tides (High tides) Barges brought the material to the beach close to the river Heacham outfall Beacon (lower picture), and discharged the material onto the beach. Land plant machinery then distributed the material and reprofiled the beach to provide improved defence against storm tides.
